INNOVASON Sy80 Digital Mixing Console

www.innovason.com

The InnovaSON Sy80 digital mixing console includes 80 inputs, 80 outputs and 48 mix busses in a chassis weighing less than 176 pounds. A new version of the console’s software manager, Sensoft 8, is combined with a new DSP module built around the latest SHARC digital signal processors.

Sensoft 8 introduces XFAD technology and a Fader Configuration System that allow users to define the function of every fader on the console surface. A virtually unlimited number of VCA groups may be created.

Faders designated as inputs may be configured as mono, stereo or multiple XFAD expanded faders. An unlimited number of inputs, such as a group of drum channels, may be assigned and “stacked” beneath a single “development” fader for control by that fader. The user may then designate a “deployment” zone of faders anywhere on the console where the relative levels of individual inputs assigned to the “development” fader may be displayed when selected.

Dual redundant auto-switching power supplies are provided with the Sy80. It also incorporates Mix Box, a local audio rack that is remote-controlled from the control surface.

Rane DEQ 60 Analog-Controlled Digital Equalizer

www.rane.com

The Rane DEQ 60 stereo one-third-octave digital graphic equalizer is part of the company’s new analog-controlled digital series.

It uses DSP algorithms to provide output magnitude response corresponding exactly to the front panel settings. This patented technology, called “Perfect-Q,” allows subtle refinements of frequency response.

In addition to the 30-band EQ with slider controls and soft-touch knobs, each channel includes full-cut Accelerated Slope three-band tone controls, separate sweepable low-cut and high-cut filters, individual input and output level controls with LED meters for each, range switches and bypass switches (fail-safe relay).

For those who occasionally require wide control, there is a switch to select between Perfect-Q or Proportional-Q response. There is also capability to slave one channel to the other, use as an A-curve/B-curve comparison or as two analog memories.

XTA Series 2 Digital Signal Processors

www.xta.co.uk

The XTA Electronics Series 2 consists of four DSP units. The C2 compressor includes “look-ahead” attack times for instantaneous transient control, automatic time constants, and built-in side-chain EQ. A “De-EQ” mode is an extension of traditional de-essing.

The D2 stereo dynamic EQ offers side-chains that are linked. It also includes three bands of fully adjustable dynamic EQ, each band offering independent control of envelope and frequency.

The E2 stereo parametric EQ provides four bands of fully parametric EQ, each band sweepable between 20 Hz and 20 kHz and offering high-resolution Q and level adjustment. The outside bands are switchable to offer shelving filters. The G2 is a dual-channel (linkable for stereo) gating system with fully adjustable envelope including hold time, and large status LEDs showing attack, hold and release phases.

Allen & Heath Xone:V6 Mixer Upgrade

www.allen-heath.com

Allen & Heath is now offering a valve board as an option for the recently launched Xone:V6 DJ/club mixer. The valve board consists of double-sided fiberglass PCB carrying six premium grade double triode valves in cathode-follower configuration.

Each valve becomes an integral part of its corresponding channel’s pre-amplifier, adding classic valve sound and “warmth” to signals. The circuit design ensures that noise and headroom aren’t compromised, though distortion rises to the typical level. To install, the outer casing of the Xone:V6 is removed and the valve board “plugged-in” without further modification.
